ANNE DE CARBUCCIA
ONE PLANET ONE FUTURE
Anne de Carbuccia is a French-American artist and filmmaker who travels to the most remote places in the world to document endangered environments, species and cultures through her art. While studying anthropology and art history at Columbia University, she developed her vision of the concept of man as a geological force - Anthropocene.
ONE PLANET ONE FUTURE
ONE PLANET ONE FUTURE is Anne de Carbuccia's ongoing artistic project documenting man-made threats to the environment through video and photography. She calls her on-site installations TIMESHRINES.
TIMESHRINES
are Anne's largest work. She stages a symbolic installation called a TimeShrine to honour and record the dwindling beauty of the planet. Essential to the TimeShrines are an hourglass, a symbol of fleeting existence, and a skull, or vanity as it used to be called. The skull as a mystical object is meant to remind us that as mortals we can choose between a constructive and positive life or a superficial, vain life (hence the symbolism of the vanity). To complete each TimeShrine, Anne incorporates organic elements and objects that she has found on site and carefully collected for their special meaning. For her TimeShrines, Anne de Carbuccia has been inspired by the vanitas art of the 16th and 17th centuries. They are meticulously crafted and are reminiscent of still lifes.
ONE PLANET ONE FUTURE
uses the universal language of art to create awareness and to inspire individual action. Anne's images are shot on location as a tribute to her subjects - water, climate refugees, endangered species - and as evidence of the ruinous effects of climate collapse. Her art tells the story of "what we have, what we could lose and what we have already lost".
Anne de Carbuccia's work is an immensely important documentary to forcefully draw attention to rapidly disappearing environments, species and cultures, and also a plea to re-imagine the future.

She works tirelessly and has already had a number of exhibitions. Her exhibition at the Museum of Oceanography in Montecarlo - WATER AT DUSK - in January 2016 was a precursor to a larger art event that opened at the Westbeth Art Gallery in New York in September of the same year.
ONE OCEAN SHORT FILM
"Our archaeology can't be trash"

Anne also wrote the screenplay and directed One Ocean, a short film screened at the 75th. Venice International Film Festival. Her visual journey through the incredible beauty of the Ocean reveals that everything is connected and all is one in the Anthropocene, the era of human impact on Earth. The warming of the planet, the burning forests in Siberia and the massive consumption of single-use plastic all have direct and dire consequences for the ocean.
Anne is currently making a full documentary on resilience and adaptation
to climate change during the Covid 19 pandemic.

EDUCATION PROJECT
Anne believes that education is fundamental to addressing climate collapse and the challenges of the Anthropocene. Through her art, she has collaborated with schools and academic institutions to create a learning experience for students from kindergarten to college, focusing on the story of each painting and its message.
"Our species has become a geological force, let's make it a force for good"

One Planet One Future Milano offers free guided tours, seminars and events and has developed a digital education project using film and photography.
TIME SHRINE FOUNDATION
A US public charity based in New York, founded by Anne with the goal of raising awareness of climate change and threats to the planet and inspiring individual and collective action. The Foundation works with educational institutions and organisations to spread the message of environmental protection. It is funded by donations from individuals and businesses, as well as through the sale of artwork.
