The New Luxury explores the concept of luxury in the 21st century and shows how streetwear culture is significantly changing the luxury segment of fashion. More and more traditional luxury houses are cooperating with streetwear labels, opening up to a new and young generation of buyers. The New Luxury presents some of the most important brands that are realigning themselves through changing distribution strategies, cooperations or redesigns and portrays industry experts and designers such as Kim Jones, Hiroshi Fujiwara and Virgil Abloh.
Along the way, the book offers insights into exciting collaborations and provides insider knowledge for anyone who wants to learn more about the emergence of new trends and a luxury market in transition. The changing world of the luxury market is explained by streetwear authority Highsnobiety.
Highsnobiety was founded in 2005 by David Fischer as a streetwear blog and focuses on urban lifestyle trends from fashion, art, music and culture. The company is based in Berlin; editorial offices are located in Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles and New York. Highsnobiety also has its own shop. Their first book The Incomplete was published by gestalten in 2018.
Gestalten Verlag was founded in Berlin in 1995 and specialises in topics such as design, illustration, architecture, photography, typography and contemporary art. Der Verlag has editorial offices in Berlin, London, New York and Tokyo and 3 shops in Berlin and New York.
