Emilio Pucci (1914-1992) created his own fashion house in Florence with a visionary sense of style. In the early 1950s, he attracted high society to his first boutique. His "Capri pants" and silk scarves in his own designs were legendary. In the late 1950s, Jacqueline Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe wore his creations, and by the mid-1960s the label was synonymous with the lavish lifestyle of the international jet set.
The story of Pucci is an epic with roots in the Italian Renaissance: the brand's creator, Marchese Emilio Pucci di Barsento, was an extraordinary aristocrat whose ancestral lineage goes back to the 15th century. The story of the House of Pucci shows how a family business with a tiny store became an international brand with 50 boutiques worldwide. And it's a lesson in innovation, as Pucci was one of the first brands to have its own logo and pioneered diversification into home, sportswear and accessories. It was Pucci who created pop-art designs and a new color palette, as well as advancing weaving and printing techniques.
The updated XL-sized TASCHEN edition features hundreds of photographs-including some 60 new shots, as well as rare material from the Emilio Pucci Foundation archives-to create a collection of the designer's best work. In her text, Vanessa Friedman places Emilio Pucci's achievements in the context of fashion history and offers insight into the Pucci dynasty.
Each volume has its own cover design featuring a selected original pattern from the Emilio Pucci collection. Orders will be delivered one of the available cover designs at random.
The book is also published in an Art Edition with a vintage silk scarf from the Emilio Pucci archive.
