As a follow-up to the current exhibition at Fondazione Sozzani, "Anna Piaggi: Illustrations by Karl Lagerfeld", Vestiaire Collective and Fondazione Sozzani present for the first time together a selection of curated pieces by Associazione Culturale Anna Piaggi and Fondazione Sozzani.

Vestiaire Collective and Fondazione Sozzani present this collaboration with the aim of encouraging consumers to think about the impact of their own clothes on the environment and to participate in the circular economy by sharing the wardrobes of two Italian style icons. The iconic pieces are on display at Fondazione Sozzani, Via Enrico Tazzoli 3, Milan, and will be available exclusively at Vestiaire Collective Online from Monday 17 January. Proceeds will benefit the cultural programmes of the Fondazione Sozzani and the Associazione Culturale Anna Piaggi.

"The importance of our heritage, culture, education and awareness of the history of fashion is now an important step forward. It is one of the raison d'être of Fondazione Sozzani - to initiate these conversations." Fondazione Sozzani . "Heritage is our culture. Enhancing the heritage of fashion and helping to create a culture of consciousness - that's the future." Carla Sozzani

The cooperation Vestiaire Collective and Fondazione Sozzani shows that circular economy in fashion is possible. Even consumers who are used to luxury are becoming more accustomed to durability than novelty by fashion's key players. The merit of Vestiaire Collective is to have built a community that has confidence in the authenticity of the pieces on offer. They have achieved this through secure authentication and good selection criteria. It remains exciting to see how this market develops.

About Anna Piaggi

Anna Piaggi's role in fashion is legendary. She is considered the "queen" of vintage. Married to photographer Alfa Castaldi, who was a great cultural influence on her, she met fashion historian Vern Lambert in London in 1967.

Lambert had a stall at the Chelsea Antique Market selling dresses by Elsa Schiaparelli, Gabrielle Chanel, Callot Soeurs, haute couture, homemade and ethnic dresses. He shaped Piaggi's style, which changed radically when she started combining vintage clothes with contemporary fashion. The Associazione Culturale Anna Piaggi was founded in 2013 by the family of Alberto Piaggi, Anna's brother. Its aim is to preserve the collection of garments, hats and accessories and to promote initiatives such as exhibitions, events, collaborations and presentations at universities and fashion schools.

About Carla Sozzani

Carla Sozzani grew up in the fashion scenes of London and Milan in the 1970s. In 1969 she met Alfa Castaldi, whom she considers her mentor. Alfa and Anna had a great influence on her developing style. While working with Alfa on fashion shoots, she met Walter Albini, Ugo Correani, Silvano Malta, Manolo Blahnik, Ken Scott, Karl Lagerfeld, Antonio Lopez, Stephen Jones and the legendary Bill Cunningham, the archivist of "fashion of the moment", through Anna Piaggi. The Fondazione Sozzani was founded in 2016 by Carla Sozzani and is dedicated to promoting culture through photography, fashion, visual arts and applied arts. The Fondazione has taken over the patronage of Galleria Carla Sozzani and continues all relevant public functions that the Galleria has supported since 1990.
