Cevin Parker in the Meet Pablo Gallery in Düsseldorf © Max Sonnenschein
Art, 17. December 2023: The preview of Cevin Parker's Behind A Dream exhibition took place today. Tomorrow, the exhibition of pastel paintings reflecting dreams will open at Meet Pablo in Stilwerk.
The young artist came himself and talked to us about his art. He was still jet-lagged because he had just travelled from Art Basel Miami Beach 2023, where he was exhibiting. It quickly becomes clear that he has made a rapid career in art. Cevin Parker tells us that he actually only started working as an artist three years ago. Before that, he had a career in the world of fashion and marketing. Then he was approached by Johann König after a group exhibition in Berlin. König owns one of the most important galleries for contemporary art in Germany and is considered one of the leading art experts. He then exhibited with König at the "misa.art" art fair in Mallorca; at the time he was labelled a digital artist in the press.
The combination of talent and charming personality led to another lucky encounter a short time later. Cevin Parker tells us that one of his most critical collectors was acquainted with the head office of Babor, the Aachen-based cosmetics company. The collector told his acquaintance that "if you ever do anything with art, then only with Cevin". This tip turned into an art collaboration. The limited edition ampoule collection is called The Art of Beauty Collection and a work of art by Cevin Parker adorns the packaging.
The paintings that Cevin Parker brought with him to Düsseldorf radiate peace and harmony in the most beautiful pastel colours. The paintings embody his dreams, a moment in time or an unprocessed experience. They represent feelings, be it love or anger, suffering or happiness. The self-taught artist describes himself as using colours as a source of inspiration. He draws further inspiration from the ideas of abstraction and the American colour field artists of the 1950-60s. Elements of Gerhard Richter can also be found selectively in his works. The harmony that one perceives in his paintings is no coincidence. Cevin Parker uses research into colour psychology to give his works a sensual effect.
The paintings fully reflect his positive nature and, just like the gallery owner Johann König, Cevin Parker has also won us over with his art.
