Düsseldorf, 17 August 2023: Together with its architectural partner Kö-Bogen, fashion house Breuninger would like to thank the people of Düsseldorf with an eventful 10th anniversary weekend at Kö-Bogen on 01 and 02 September. The centrepiece of the event will be eight fashion shows with the latest collections. As well as other highlights such as shopping promotions, late night shopping until 10 pm, musical and artistic live acts. At today's press conference, to which the managing director duo Andreas Rebbelmund and David Zimmermann, as well as Andreas Stolz, Head of Asset Management NRW, Art-Invest Real Estate invited, many new features were also announced.
A public event as a gift and not just for the wealthiest customers
The 10th anniversary of the Kö-Bogen is the second highlight this year after the re-opening of the ground floor in spring 2023. Andreas Rebbelmund, Managing Director of Breuninger, which describes itself as a "house of beautiful things", said that they were really looking forward to it. It would be a thank-you to the city of Düsseldorf and therefore all events were open to the public and not just the wealthiest customers. Breuninger also felt supported by the city administration; this could be seen in the normal operative business.
Real estate partner Andreas Stolz, Art-Invest Real Estate, confessed not to know of any comparable event in Germany like this one. On 22 and 23 September, the official birthday of the Kö-Bogen would be celebrated, to which the mayor of Düsseldorf was expected. There would also be a charity auction.
What else can one look forward to?
There will be a 228-metre-long open-air catwalk on which 32 models will show fashion. Celebrities are expected, of course, both from the main store in Stuttgart and from the region. But who will be there has not yet been revealed. On 8 September, a cooperation with the Düsseldorf Opera House is planned.
Visitors can also admire the sculpture by artist Steffen Mumm, who created a new interpretation of the golden "Breuni" bear, inspired by the Düsseldorf city colours and the traditional Bergischer Löwen.
Breuninger in Düsseldorf
The prestige property Kö-Bogen, designed by the New York star architect Daniel Libeskind, is one of the most sought-after addresses in the city centre. The fund company "Art-Invest" acquired the property from Stefan Mühling's developers "die developer" back in 2013.
Breuninger always in the right place
The history of Breuninger begins as early as 1881, when Eduard Breuninger took over the house of E. L. Ostermayer located on the market square in Stuttgart and opened the flagship store there. In 1952, the bear Breuni was introduced, which is still the company's mascot today. After Breuninger became a full-range retailer in the 1960s, it began to expand in the 1970s. Until 2006, the company was represented by the Heinemann clothing store in Düsseldorf. In October 2013, the second largest Breuninger departmentstore after Stuttgart was opened in the Kö-Bogen.
