THE LIVING HOTEL DE MEDICI -

Whether art, architecture, theater, ballet or music. The density of museums in and around the Rhine metropolis is quite unique in Germany. Outstanding examples are The Gehry buildings in the Medienhafen and the Kö-Bogen by Daniel Libeskind. The Goethe Museum in Düsseldorf is the most comprehensive and important in the world. The same is true for the visual arts. Movements like Zero, German Pop Art or the Düsseldorf School of Painting, artists like Joseph Beuys.

The "Düsseldorf Photo School" is an important part in the development of photography and art history. Between 1976 and 1996, 87 photographers studied with Professor Becher at the Art Academy. These include Candida Höfer, Axel Hütte, Thomas Ruff and Andreas Gursky. It is thanks to this reputation that Düsseldorf could become the home of

the German Photo Institute.

Düsseldorf was also home for the outstanding poet Rose Ausländer.
