On 22 April, the traditional Night of the Museums will take place in Düsseldorf, the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia. 40 locations invite  to discover them from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. for an estimated 25,000 visitors. The concept was presented today by Miriam Koch, Head of the Department of Culture and Integration, Daniel Tobias Etzel, Managing Director of k/c/e Marketing GmbH, and Jochen Reiter, Director of the Aquazoo Löbbecke Museum. They chose the Aquazoo as the location, a rather remote museum in the beautiful Nordpark, which is also on the programme list of the Night of the Museums.

The surprise: this year, visitors to the Aquazoo are allowed to go backstage. Director Jochen Reiter revealed that they would be setting up 2 lighthouses that night to attract not only night owls but also moths.

"A starry sky of participants"

A first is the participation of the Academy of Arts, which is also celebrating its 250th anniversary. Miriam Koch revealed that she had spoken to Tony Cragg and congratulated him, as it was announced today that he is the interim director of the Kunstakademie. The K21 Ständehaus is showing Germany's largest survey exhibition of the renowned US artist Jenny Holzer. And for the Kunstpalast, bestselling author Florian Illies has curated the oil sketch exhibition "More Light".

"Everything new!" promises the Landtag NRW and shows its purchases from the Corona years. "All fake?", on the other hand, asks the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf in the exhibition by Alison Jackson and also shows the first retrospective by Andreas Gefeller. At the Haus der Geschichte Nordrhein-Westfalen, the focus is on the "cultural heritage of the drinking hall". Hotel friends, a mixture of hotel and art gallery, is showing the street art festival "10 years of Turbo".

Visitors can dance along to "May I dance with you" at the Tanzhaus Nrw and marvel at Jacques Tilly and his exclusive insights into the creation of the top-secret political carnival floats.

Goethe's fascination with magic is the subject of the Goethe Museum, supported by magician Stefan Alexander Rautenberg. Animal paintings are on display at Schloss Benrath and at the Zero Foundation you can pose on the ZERO catwalk.

Art Cologne 2022. The results. The art market works. Figures reported. Art Cologne came to an end today. Now taking place in autumn, Art Cologne was well prepared, with a new hall layout, wide plazas, floor strips and security. Around 43,000 people visited the fair to see the curated range of contemporary works, classical modernism and post-war German art. It was questionable how the results would turn out, given the energy crisis and the Ukraine war: Read on if you're interested in numbers.
