New York sensation Anna Weyant has been showing her debut "Baby, It Ain't Over Till It's Over" of new paintings and drawings at Gagosian since 3 November 2022. Art critics have described her story as a modern art fairy tale. Her works have a beauty, aesthetics and maturity rarely seen in artists so young. Her precisely rendered scenes feature mostly young and female figures in tragicomic stories with an ironic twist.

Düsseldorf, 18 November 2022: The New York sensational artist Anna Weyant shows her debut "Baby, It Ain't Over Till It's Over" with new paintings and drawings at Gagosian since 3 November. Admirers of her art are in for a treat as she shows seven new paintings and ten new drawings.
Art critics have described her story as a modern art fairy tale. The South China Morning Post described Anna Weyant as a "thousand-year-old Botticelli". What is certain is that the works of the 27-year-old artist have already fetched 1.6 million dollars at auction. Since May, Anna Weyant has been represented by the New York gallery Gagosian and she is their youngest artist.
Her works have a beauty, aesthetics and maturity rarely seen in artists so young. Her precisely rendered scenes feature mostly young and female figures in tragicomic stories with an ironic twist. In doing so, she provides a dreamy insight into popular culture; the pictures show gestures, rituals of femininity that she distorts.
Weyant took the title of the exhibition "Baby, It Ain't Over Till It's Over" from a song by Lenny Kravitz - who in turn took the quote from Yogi Berra. In this series, Weyant shows her paintings with aspects of the American milieu and media landscape, and she shows them with the utmost accuracy and intensity.

Biography:
Weyant was born in Calgary, Canada in 1995. After receiving her BFA degree in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design, she moved to New York and went on to study painting at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou. Upon her return to New York, she worked as a studio assistant while continuing to paint. Among her first exhibited works is a series of canvases depicting a doll's house - modelled on one she owned as a child - and its young inhabitants. In her still lifes, Weyant depicts fruits, flowers and other objects in a rather disquieting light.
In her works, Weyant tends to use a sombre, muted colour palette of deep greens, dusty pinks and deep blacks. She also finds her inspiration from 17th century Dutch masters.

Jahrhunderts.
