Düsseldorf, 14 August 2022: The Düsseldorf Kellermann Gallery is showing a selection of paintings by Christoph Pöggeler but also new works, such as new bronze sculptures. In addition, three of his best-known motifs, The Kiss, The Photographer and The Businessman as a limited bronze edition.

Every child in Düsseldorf knows Christoph Pöggeler's sculptures. At 10 important locations in the city so far, the "Säulenheilige" (pillar saints) can be found on advertising pillars such as the Oberkasseler Brücke/Tonhalle, Burgplatz, Joseph-Beuys-Ufer, the railway station and the television tower. Pöggeler was inspired to create this cycle of works by the column saints of late antiquity. Some of these spent many years on high columns to be worshipped there. Today they are advertising pillars that generate people's attention and on them Pöggeler places everyday figures that he has realistically designed and painted. Today, the "column saints" have become a Düsseldorf landmark and also a programme item on city tours. Although his sculptural work with the "Säulenheiligen" is particularly well known, Christoph Pöggeler is also an outstanding painter who transforms found objects made of wood and other materials into romantic works of art.

Christoph Pöggeler's exhibition can be seen from 02.09. to 01.10.2022 at the Kellermann Gallery.
